I haved lived in Kennett Square for over twoyears. What a mistake that I did not try until this past weekend with my wife. We sat at the bar, fast and friendly service from Charles. The clam app. Was great. I had the Po Boy with deep fried oysters.....great. my wife had small ceasar salad which was good. I will bring the whole family back for dinner or lunch next weekend.

Reviewing based on one lunch for two of us -- enjoyed. This early pioneer in Kennett Square growth gets overlooked in the welter of new restaurants in the area. One lunch isn't much to go on, but another couple staying at the same B&B also spoke positively about their lunch at the Inn, too. Mushroom soup was delicious; get the bowl, it is not that big, be prepared for creaminess. My club sandwich was perfect, should appear in the dictionary as definition of the name. My wife liked her Cobb salad. Excellent service, too. The barroom was comfortable and convivial. Eight seats at the bar, a couple unobtrusive TVs, and a handful of tables. There is still a phone booth in a back room, looked like it was working. The dining room up a few steps had thick tablecloths, heavy drapes, and carpet. Looked quite inviting for dinner and I hope to have one there soon.

We came here for a weekday lunch and really enjoyed it. The mushroom soup was to die for---really rich and deep mushroom flavor. My oyster po boy was also really good. The oysters seemed fresh and the sauce on the sandwich was yummy. Seemed like a really pleasant local spot, with a nice vibe and great service.

We ate their for the first time. It was a beautiful Saturday evening in May. Service was excellent and our waitress was friendly and helpful. I had blackened scallops with angel hair pasta, and it was delicious - large, flavorful scallops on a bed of creamed pasta. My wife had a steak which she said melted in her mouth. The restaurant is a little dated, but the food and service was excellent, and it is in a great location. We would certainly visit again.

It's expensive, not very filling but what you get is quite tasty. The atmosphere is nice, the place is rather nice inside. I didn't have an issue with the servers, but you know how that goes. I've had their lobster ravioli and the shrimp lejon which is a shrimp with horse radish wrapped in bacon. If you try one thing, get the shrimp lejon, it's so rare to find for some reason and it's an amazing flavor combination.

I've never written a review for a restaurant before but after eating here I felt I needed to. We were in the area for my boyfriend's birthday and the place seemed quaint and a diner outside even recommended it. Our server was rushed and seemed anxious and we were among 3 tables in her entire section, the other two having already finished eating. I would recommend it to no one. I got the shrimp and scallop St Steven and my boyfriend got a filet and both were dry and fine enough but nothing to impress. I questioned our server whether I had been given the full or petit portion, receiving 2 scallops and 2 shrimp for the full price of 24 which was absolutely ridiculous. She said the cooks said I had gotten the full portion which was 3 of each and just kinda laughed that they better get it straight next time when I told her I had only received 2 of each. My boyfriend and I left angry and frustrated spending way more money than we would have liked for a meal that was among the least impressive we've had at restaurant before. Don't bother going here.

The food was not very good and for the price, it should have been a heck of a lot better. I had the pork chop napoleon. It was supposed to be stuffed pork with sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and goat cheese. It turned out to be three slabs of dry pork layered with huge sun dried tomatoes, huge slices of mushrooms and globs of goat cheese. It was too big, had no flavor, was just slapped together and I could only eat a small portion before I gave up. The garlic mashed potatoes had a slight flavor of garlic but not much else. My friend had crab cakes which were also flavorless. Even the rolls were not very good. Highly disappointed.

Service does not get worse...terrible! We arrived at our 7:30 reservation ON TIME. A party of 11 which had been on their books for several days. They put us in the "Library". A separate room from the main dining area. We ordered drinks and informed our server that we needed entrees only as we had just come from a cocktail party.... The server was nervous and huffing around making all of us uncomfortable. She said they were shorthanded that night so we tried to be patient. All they gave us in that hour and one half was a couple of baskets of rolls . No gratis olives and celery or appetizers for the wait...No apology nor explanation from management either. At 9:00 8 people got their entrees....one prime rib that was ordered rare was totally brown and sent back. The party members trying to e polite waited for the final 3 to be served....it was an additional 20 minutes and our meals were cold by then....after almost 2 hours we all had our meals Scallops burnt to a char, lamb chops charred as well..... Why we didn't go home and order Dominoes is what we are all asking ourselves this week.... Very bad service and food was equally bad Will never go back..... Unfortunate that we were required to give an 18% gratuity....it should have been up to US if we felt like leaving a tip......

We went there about a month ago after a trip to Longwood Gardens. We liked the restaurant alot. Being that Kennett Square is the Mushroom Capitol of the world we tried a few local specialties. The mushroom soup was very good and as an appetizer we had a puff pastry filled with 7 different types of mushrooms. Also very good. For entree's I had sliced breast of duckling in a cherry sauce while my wife had the chicken taragon which was sauted chicken breast in a light taragon cream sauce topped by more mushrooms. Both excellent choices. For dessert we split the triple chocolate cake that was huge so we took half of it to go. The prices were reasonable & we will return when next in the area.

Stoped in late (9:00) for desert and coffee. Very hospitable. Would like to visit again for dinner.

These guys serve a terrific lunch - and the mushroom soup could be the best in town! Dinner in the dining room can be pricey for what it is - the food is good but not outstanding - and seems popular with an older crowd. Eat in bar instead - it's comfy and warm and the burgers and club sandwiches are terrific - also there are portion options available on dinner entrees. Great service, and a nice toasty warm stove feels good on those damp, cold days. During summer you can eat on the porch - only a couple of tables - or sit for drinks and snacks. Good pick for lunch or to sit in the tavern with friends for supper.

Very good meal, definitely for the older sect. The wine glasses were wet when given, but other then that very nice. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. I had the oyster KSI...very nice with a good lobster sauce. Also had the mushroom soup, which is amazing. My main course was one of the specials, the mussels marinara over angel hair pasta. Nothing to write home about. It was good, not great. The mussels were not meaty at all. For dessert had the vanilla nutmeg ice cream from Woodside Creamery. Amazing. Overall a good night out. Not flashy or trendy, but solid.

For my dad's birthday we decided to go to the Kennet Square Inn and I can honestly say it was the worst decision we ever made. When we arrived there were no tables in the dining area (even though there was only about 3 parties there) but a male employee with a nice Christmas tie pulled two tables together in the tavern section so that my family of 5 could sit. This was the highlight of the dinner and it only went downhill from here. Valerie, our waitress, didn't look happy to see us but I can't complain too much about that because, to be fair, she was perfectly adequate as a server. Though at one point she placed someone else's dirty dish on our table and took a solid 10 minutes to get my mom another glass of wine. But whatever, maybe she was having an off night. I ordered the pork tenderloins and, after waiting about half an hour for all of the entrees, it finally arrived. I looked at the plate and felt pretty skeptical but I figured I'd try my best to keep an open mind. I soon found out that my skepticalness was well founded. The entree smelled rusty and tasted even worse. However, the rest of my family was luckier than me and had a fairly decent meal. Except for the baked potatoes, which probably could have killed someone if it was thrown across the room. Overall, I'd say that the Kennet Square Inn deserves a solid ONE star and was incredibly overpriced for a meal that was C minus quality at best.

Went for a late lunch before visiting Longwood Gardens for a fireworks show. Service was good and we enjoyed sitting outside. Soups were good. we had mushroom and the sherried crab special. I had a delicious special spinach salad with grilled shrimp and a lovely citrus dressing. My husband had a huge chef's salad with very fresh cold cuts. We would definitely visit again sometime, maybe for dinner!
